Washington County Career Center Valedictorians of 2020


Mckenzie Kilkenny is a Warren senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Amanda Kilkenny and James Kilkenny of Vincent.

Kilkenny is a member of the Career Center’s Interact club, Ohio Teen Institute, and is the treasurer of the National Technical Honor Society. As a member of all these groups, Kilkenny participates and helps organize events that will benefit our community and help give to those in need. She has received awards for the Principal List and is an Energy Bus Driver member for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Through her technical program, she has earned certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition, Kilkenny has earned the State-Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) industrial credential. She has received college credit or is currently taking dual-enrollment classes for: English Composition, Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Terminology I & II, College Algebra, and Statistics. Thanks to her technical program she has been exposed to great opportunities outside of school. Kilkenny was one of twenty students selected out of fifty-three candidates to participate in a weeklong internship at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was able to experience many things first-hand ranging from surgeries to studying blood cells in the lab.

After graduation, Kilkenny plans to attend the Muskingum University Nursing Program to obtain a bachelor’s in nursing.



Brandon Simoniette is a Warren senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and he is the son of Jeff and Suzy Simoniette of Little Hocking.

Simoniette is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization and served as Chapter Secretary last school year. As a Student Ambassador, he is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Career Center and Warren High School. In addition, he is gaining leadership skills by promoting the Career Center during its recruitment process as well as giving tours and guidance at scheduled events and with incoming visitors. At Warren High School, Simoniette is a captain of the varsity football team and currently is a three-year letterman for both basketball and football. In addition, he serves as a volunteer for both sports in Warren’s youth camps and is active with travel basketball. He has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and W.I.S.H. List for meeting all three criteria of 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. He currently has earned or is enrolled in both high school and college credit courses for College Algebra, English Composition, and Statistics through the College Credit Plus program at Washington State Community College.

In Sports Medicine & Exercise Science, Simoniette is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for anatomy and physiology; biomechanics; employability skills; exercise prescription; fitness assessment; health and physical fitness; injury and disease; medical terminology; rehabilitation treatment, sport and exercise nutrition; and sports psychology. Last school year, he earned both high school and college credits for Medical Terminology I and Resistive Training. This school year, he will be earning credits for Introduction to Nutrition, Manage of Athletic Injuries, and Medical Terminology II. Additionally, he earned industrial credentials and certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Certified Fitness Trainer (CFT) during his junior year. In May 2020, he will sit for the Physical Therapist Assistant Certification (PTAC) exam.

Sports Medicine & Exercise Science instructor, Lauren Copen, commented on special traits and roles that Brandon carries such as leadership, hard worker, persistent, positive attitude, helpful, and a role model in and outside the classroom.

Simoniette mows lawns to earn money throughout the mowing season each summer. After graduating, he plans to attend Washington State Community College and then transfer to Marietta College to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Business. He then plans to pursue a career in the mental health field.



Alyssa Westfall is a Warren senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Christopher and Melissa Westfall of Cutler.

Westfall is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization, National Technical Honor Society and the class treasurer of her technical program. As an Energy Bus Student Leader, Westfall helps promote activities that enforces the values to overcome adversity and to fuel your life, work, and team with positive energy. She has received awards for the Principal List and is an Energy Bus Driver member for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Through her technical program, she has earned certifications in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition, Westfall earned the State-Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) industrial credential. She has received college credit or is currently taking dual-enrollment classes for: English Composition, Introduction to Nutrition, Medical Terminology I & II, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics. English instructor, Chris Swarr, nominated Westfall for this honor and had the following to say, “Alyssa is a soft-spoken academic powerhouse with an impeccable attitude. In my English 1500 CCP course, she works tirelessly, assists others without prompting, performs at a very high level, and is never off-task.”

After graduation, Westfall plans to attend Washington State Community College to obtain an associate degree as a registered nurse.
