The Washington County Career Center honors its December Students of the Month, Kynalyn and Eric.
Kynalyn is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and she is the daughter of Tiana of Belpre and the granddaughter of George and Becky of Torch.
Kynalyn is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization. At Belpre High School, she is a member of the Academic Excellence Recognition Organization, National Honor Society and is active in basketball. She recently signed a contract to play at Otterbein University. In addition, she serves as a volunteer for the Belpre youth basketball as an assistant coach, IBelieve and is active with AAU travel basketball. She earned All TVC League, Offensive Player of the Year, Academic Student Athlete, and 1st Team All District. At the Career Center, she received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List, Honor Roll and Energy Bus Drivers Program for meeting all three criteria of 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. She currently has earned or is enrolled in both high school and college credit courses for American National Government, Introduction to Nutrition, Management of Athletic Injuries, Medical Terminology I&II, and Resistance Training.
In Sports Medicine & Exercise Science, Kynalyn is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for anatomy and physiology; biomechanics; employability skills; exercise prescription; fitness assessment; health and physical fitness; injury and disease; medical terminology; rehabilitation treatment, sport and exercise nutrition; and sports psychology. Additionally, she earned industrial credentials and certifications in Stop the Bleed, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during her junior year. In May 2020, she will sit for the Physical Therapist Assistant Certification (PTAC) exam. Sports Medicine & Exercise Science instructor, Lauren Copen, commented on special traits and roles that Kyna carries such as leadership, kind, helpful, and a role model in and outside the classroom.
After graduating, Kynalyn will attend Otterbein University to earn a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training.
Ericis a Belpre senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and he is the son of Herman of Vienna and Becky of Belpre.
Eric is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization Student Council and National Technical Honor Society. At Belpre High School, he lettered in golf, basketball and baseball as well as earned 1st Team TVC and 2nd Team All District for golf. He has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List, Honor Roll and Energy Bus Drivers Program for meeting all three criteria of 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. He attended IBelieve during last school year. He currently has earned or is enrolled in both high school and college credit courses for English Composition, Statistics, Introduction to Nutrition, Management of Athletic Injuries, Medical Terminology I&II, and Resistance Training.

Eric is currently applying to reputable colleges and aspires to enroll as a walk-on for golf and earn a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics.
