The Washington County Career Center honors its October Students of the Month, Kenzie and Chase.
Kenzie is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Digital Marketing program, and she is the daughter of Bradford and LeeAndra of Marietta.
At the Career Center, Kenzie is a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization and served as class president for her technical program. As a Student Ambassador, she is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Career Center and Marietta High School. In addition, she is gaining leadership skills by promoting the Career Center during its recruitment process as well as giving tours and guidance at scheduled events and with incoming visitors. Last school year, she earned the right to compete at the BPA National Competition, in Dallas, Texas, for Advanced Interview Skills. At Marietta High School, Kenzie is active in both Varsity soccer and track and choir.
Kenzie has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and Honor Roll. In her technical program, she has earned industry-recognized credentials for the Adobe Creative Cloud – PowerPoint. Academically, she has earned or is working on College Credit Plus (CCP) courses for: American National Government, British Literature, English Composition, Physics, and Pre-Calculus. In addition, she is training to become an EMT. She is taking course offerings and learning skills for: Business Administration Marketing, Business Foundations, Digital Marketing & Management, and Marketing Principles. Kenzie has been a member of 4H for the past eight years. Through 4H, she was crowned the 2022 Washington County Fair Queen this past summer. She also competed at the state fair and won Outstanding of the Day for her project of miniature gardens.
Director, Mike Elliott, commented, “Kenzie received third place in the Ohio BPA State Competition and went on to compete at the National level in Dallas, Texas. To accomplish all this as a junior-level student is an extraordinary achievement. The entire Career Center staff is very proud of her.” Upon graduation, she plans to attend a four-year college or university to obtain a bachelor’s degree in an undecided field. She also aspires to run track at the collegiate level.
Chase is a Frontier senior enrolled in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and he is the son of Rodney and Toni of Newport.
At the Career Center, Chase is a member of BPA and the National Technical Honor Society. Last school year, he competed at the BPA State Competition for his project in Video Production. He has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and Honor Roll. At Frontier High School, he played the trumpet in the band.
In his technical program, Chase has earned industry-recognized credentials and college credit for the Adobe Creative Cloud – Photoshop and Premier Pro as well as for Graphic Design, Digital Photography, Digital Storytelling, and Digital Video Effects. This school year, he is working on the Adobe Creative Cloud – Illustrator and InDesign as well as Live Streaming and Production and Video Production. Academically, he has earned CCP for American National Government and Statistics. He is taking course offerings and learning skills for: Creating & Editing Digital Graphics, Design Techniques, Information Technology, Multimedia & Image Management Techniques, and Video & Sound.
Graphic Design & Video Production instructor, Chris Palmer, commented, “Chase is a hard-working and intelligent student who works well with others. He is currently our Master Editor for our biggest production project.” Chase plans to enter directly into the workforce utilizing the skills he’s obtained in the IT field.
