The Washington County Career Center honors its December Students of the Month, Alexia and Levi.
Alexia is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Electricity program, and she is the daughter of Timothy and Jennifer of Marietta.
Alexia is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization, the National Technical Honor Society and is a Student Leader. At Marietta High School, she actively participates on the crew team. She has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and Honor Roll. In her technical program, Alexia has earned industry-recognized credentials for National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER): Core & Level 1 as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) – 10-Hour Training. Through College Credit Plus (CCP), she has or will earn both high school and college credit for the following academic courses: American National Government, Business Law & Ethics, Career Class, College Algebra, Personal Finance, and Statistics. She is taking course offerings and learning skills for Commercial & Industrial Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Safety & Crew Leadership, and Residential Electrical Systems. Electricity instructor, Jeff Canterbury, commented on special traits and roles Alexia carries, such as helpful, involved, kind, caring, excellent work ethic, and a good leader.
Alexia is employed with KMA Auto, in Marietta, as a car detailer. Upon graduation, she plans to enter the IBEW Local Union #972 as an apprentice in March 2022.
Levi is a Warren senior enrolled in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and he is the son of Josh and Jana of Vincent.
Levi is a member of the Career Center’s Business Professionals of America youth organization, the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), Student Council, and he is a Student Leader. He holds the office of treasurer for both NTHS and Student Council. At Warren High School, he is active in archery and participated at the 2019 national archery competition in Kentucky. He has been on the Career Center’s Principal List every nine weeks for the past two school years. As a Student Ambassador, he is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Career Center and Warren High School. In addition, he is gaining leadership skills by promoting the Career Center during its recruitment process as well as giving tours and guidance at scheduled events and with incoming visitors.
Through College Credit Plus (CCP), Levi has or will earn both high school and college credit for English Composition and Statistics. He is taking course offerings and learning skills for Creating & Editing Digital Graphics, Design Techniques, Information Technology, Multimedia & Image Management Techniques, and Video & Sound. In his technical program, Levi has earned industry-recognized credentials and/or college credit for Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, and Adobe Premiere Pro. He is currently working on Adobe InDesign, Digital Photography, Digital Storytelling, Digital Video Effects, Graphic Design, Live Streaming and Production, and Video Production.
Levi interned at the Washington County Career Center last summer in the IT department. His plans are to obtain a bachelor’s degree for Information Technology Systems or Computer Science. Levi is still deciding on which college to attend. His number one pick is to attend Ohio University where he has been offered membership in the Honors & Scholars Program. He is also contemplating on both Marietta College and the University of Dayton, both of whom have offered substantial scholarships.
