Marietta, OH – The ASPIRE Program at The Washington County Career Center is thrilled to announce the addition of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic training to its array of job training opportunities. This new offering is available to individuals aged 18 and older who do not possess a high school diploma or GED.
The ASPIRE Program provides three pathways to help Ohio residents who did not complete high school earn their Ohio high school diploma. One of these pathways is the Adult Diploma program, which is a free initiative offering job training and a route to obtaining a high school diploma through ACT WorkKeys scores. Students have the flexibility to choose the training option that best suits their career goals.
The training options available through the ASPIRE Program now include:
State Tested Nursing Assistant
EMT-Basic
Fiber Optic Technician
Phlebotomy
Medical Assistant
Medical Billing & Coding
CDL Class A
HVAC/R
Business Office Skills Specialist
Welding
Ashli Diamond, the Aspire Program Coordinator, emphasized the significance of this expansion: “This addition gives those without a diploma one more in-demand job area to receive training, all at no cost. Our program supports individuals as young as 18, providing them with a pathway to success. We will work with them through every step of the process.”
The next EMT-Basic class begins September 16, with class days of Monday & Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, it does also include 8 Saturday classes from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The class is 16 weeks. After successfully completing the class, the graduate is eligible to sit for the National Registry Cognitive and Practical Skills Exam. After passing the exam they will become a Certified National Registry and Ohio Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
