Washington County Career Center SkillsUSA recently elected its 2018-19 chapter officers. The Career Center representatives are:
President, Jaron, is a senior from Marietta enrolled in the Heavy Equipment program. He is the son of Doug and Karen of Marietta;
Vice President, Cody, is a senior from Marietta enrolled in the Building Technology/Carpentry program. He is the son of Randy of Friendly, West Virginia, and Julie of Marietta;
Secretary, Brandon, is a junior from Warren enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program. He is the son of Jeff and Suzy of Little Hocking
Treasurer, Dalton, is a senior from Belpre enrolled in the Building Technology/Carpentry program. He is the son of Kevin and Amanda of Belpre.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. It is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is cited as a "successful model of employer-driven youth development training programs" by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Career Center Chapter, part of a national organization, serves 12 vocational/technical programs, which are Auto Collision/Custom Paint and Graphics, Auto Mechanics, Building Technology/Carpentry, Cosmetology, Diesel Truck Mechanics, Electricity, Heavy Equipment, Masonry, Medical College Prep, Patient Health Care, Sports Medicine & Exercise Science, and Welding. Locally there are about 366 Career Center students members.
Across the country, the organization serves nearly 250,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training program in trade, technical, skilled and service occupations.
