The National Technical Honor Society of the Career Center recently held induction of new members and reception for students selected for membership. Thirty-eight young men and women and their guests were invited to the reception.
The National Technical Honor Society, formed in 1984, recognizes outstanding career and technical students for achievement in seven competency areas, including skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. Locally, the Washington County Career Center has honored students for 25 years. This year, 23 new initiates were inducted at a ceremony on May 7 at the Career Center.
The new initiates are:
Clayton , Jr. is a Warren junior in the Heavy Equipment program, and he is the son of Clayton, Sr. and Margaret of Vincent;
Justin is a Fort Frye junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and he is the son of Kevin and Carol of Beverly;
Amy is a Warren junior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and she is the daughter of Michael and Betty of Vincent;
Nate is a Fort Frye junior in the Welding program, and he is the son of Tom and Kim of Beverly;
Spencer is a Marietta junior in the Heavy Equipment program, and he is the son of Joe and Melinda of Marietta;
Dominick is a Fort Frye junior in the Electricity program, and he is the son of Terry and Angela of Beverly;
Breanna is a Marietta junior in the Patient Health Care program, and she is the daughter of Chris and Julie of Marietta;
Hunter is a Belpre junior in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program, and he is the son of Scott of Belpre and Kenna of Parkersburg;
Mary is a Frontier junior in the Hair Design program, and she is the daughter of Jeff of Morgantown and Amy of Newport;
Kaitlyn is a Marietta junior in the Digital Marketing program, and she is the daughter of Dale and Natasha of Marietta;
Alyssa is a Fort Frye senior in the Patient Health Care program, and she is the daughter of Brad of Waterford and Tassy of Beverly;
Olivia is a Fort Frye junior in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Frank and Jessica of Waterford;
Janson is a Belpre junior in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Jason of Athens and Brandy of Belpre;
Jocelyn is a Fort Frye junior in the Hair Design program, and she is the daughter of Anthony and Ronda of Lowell;
McKayla is a Warren junior in the Medical College Prep program, and she is the daughter of Ryan and Melissa of Bartlett;
Ivy is a Marietta junior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and she is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer of Marietta;
Jaclyn is a Marietta junior in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and she is the daughter of Doris of Marietta and the late Brent;
Shelby is a Marietta junior in the Hair Design, and her guardians are Steve and Saith;
Cody is a Marietta junior in the Heavy Equipment program, and he is the son of Jennifer of Marietta;
Hope is a Frontier junior in the Patient Health Care program, and she is the daughter of Jeff of New Matamoras and Sandra of Marietta;

Kaylie is a Belpre junior in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and she is the daughter of Jason of Marietta and Julie Fought of;
Tanner is a Warren junior in the Building Technology/Carpentry program, and he is the son of Crystal of Belpre.
Career Center students are selected for membership based upon scholarship (3.8 Career Center GPA), teacher recommendations, and exemplifying the seven ideals of Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship and Leadership. Many Washington County Career Center students over the years have been members of both the Career Center Honor Society and their respective partner school honor society.
