Career Center Names Students of the Month for November


The Washington County Career Center honors its November Students of the Month, Kaylie and Brayden.

Kaylie is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Landscape Construction & Turf Management program, and she is the daughter of Jason of Marietta and Julie of Belpre.

At the Career Center, Kaylie is a member the FFA youth organization, Interact Club, Student Council, and National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). She hold the office of Chapter Vice President for both FFA and NTHS. As a Student Ambassador, Kaylie is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Career Center and Belpre High School. In addition, she is gaining leadership skills by promoting the Career Center during its recruitment process as well as giving tours and guidance at scheduled events and with incoming visitors. She is on the Career Center’s Principal List as well as the W.I.S.H. List in meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals every grading period. At Belpre High School, Kaylie is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. She earned the OSHA 10-Hour industrial certification and, in December, will sit for the Certified Landscape Technician (CLT) national certification. Through College Credit Plus (CCP), Kaylie earned both high school and college credit in College Algebra and is currently taking American National Government. Landscape Construction & Turf Management instructor, Jason Lipot, nominated her for this honor and commented on special traits and roles that Kaylie carries such as having a great work ethic, being a hard worker, and maintaining excellent grades.

Kaylie is currently employed as a hostess with Qdoba of Marietta. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Ohio State University – ATI to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Horticulture. She aspires to become a landscape designer.

Brayden is a Fort Frye senior enrolled in the Auto Mechanics program, and he is the son of Alva and Debra of Beverly.

Brayden is a member of the Career Center’s SkillsUSA youth organization and holds the office of president in his technical program. He has been on the Career Center’s Honor Roll, Merit Roll, and the W.I.S.H. list in meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Brayden is a Life Scout in the Boys Scouts of America and is currently working on obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. At Fort Frye High School, he was active in the FFA youth organization. In his technical program, he has passed 7 out of 10 exams, to obtain the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) student industrial credential, and is on track to have it completed ahead of graduation. Brayden is a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Beverly. Auto Mechanics instructor, Dave Everson, commented on special traits and roles that Brayden carries such as great leadership skills, excellent work ethic, and willingness to help others.

Brayden is currently employed as a laborer at Boley Enterprises of Marietta. After graduating, he aspires to attend either Ohio Technical College or the University of Northwestern Ohio to further his education in the mechanical field.
