The Washington County Career Center held its 8th Annual Fall Festivus Day on Friday, October 27. This year, a Fall Festivus Olympics was held with all 15 career-technical programs participating in several fun activities. Kicking off the event, students and staff participated in a Halloween Costume Contest sponsored by Student Council. Other activities held were a lip sync contest, vertical leap, bench press, soccer shoot-out, team skis, obstacle course, and tug-o-war. The day ended with the awarding of the “Festivus Pole” to the winning program who accumulated the most points from each event. The Graphic Design & Video Production program was winner of the 2017-2018 Fall Festivus Olympics, and the Festivus Pole will remain in their possession until next year when they will have to defend their title.
The Career Center’s Director, Mike Elliott, commented, “It was a great day to hold this event. We had many fun and exciting activities that both the student body and staff enjoyed. Each year this event gets better and we hope to improve it even more for the next school year.” Other activities that took place were basketball, cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate being served, corn hole, and nature trail “Hikes for the Hardy”.
